What we cannot help with

Nurse to Ireland is an independent information website. We are not the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, the HSE, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment or the immigration service. That means we cannot:

  • Check the status of your NMBI application, permit or visa
  • Speed up any official process
  • Assess your qualifications or tell you whether you will be registered
  • Offer jobs or act as a recruitment agency
  • Provide legal or immigration advice about your individual case

For these matters, please contact the official body directly using the guidance below.

Official contacts for nurses

Most questions about your own application are best answered by the organisation that handles it. Use their official websites to find current contact details, as phone numbers and email addresses change from time to time.

  • Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Registration applications, decision letters, documents, English requirements, adaptation and aptitude tests, and annual renewal. Use the contact options in your NMBI online account where possible, so your query is linked to your file.
  • Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE). Employment permits, including the Critical Skills Employment Permit, processing times and permit conditions.
  • Immigration Service Delivery. Entry visas, join family visas, registering your immigration permission, Irish Residence Permit cards and Stamp 4.
  • Health Service Executive (HSE). Public sector nursing jobs, recruitment campaigns and pay scales.
  • Revenue. Tax, myAccount and emergency tax refunds.
  • Department of Social Protection. PPS numbers and social welfare.
  • Residential Tenancies Board (RTB). Rental rights and tenancy disputes.

Before you write to us

You may find your answer faster in one of our guides. The most common questions we receive are already covered here:

Tips for a helpful message

To help us reply quickly and usefully, tell us your training country, which stage of the process you are at, for example preparing for an English test, waiting for an NMBI decision or looking for a job, and the specific question you have. Short, clear messages get the fastest replies.

Report a scam or misleading offer

If someone has offered you a guaranteed job, guaranteed registration or a visa in exchange for large fees, or has used our name without permission, please let us know. We use these reports to warn other nurses. If you have lost money, also report it to the Gardaí, Ireland’s police service, or to the police in your country.

Partnerships and advertising

We work with organisations that genuinely help nurses, such as English test preparation providers, accredited education providers and ethical employers. If you would like to partner with us, explain who you are, how your service helps nurses and whether you charge nurses any fees. We do not promote recruiters who charge nurses placement fees, and we clearly label any sponsored content so readers always know what is independent.

Share your story

Have you already moved to Ireland as a nurse? Your experience could help someone who is just starting. We welcome short stories and tips from nurses about registration, adaptation, finding housing, bringing family or settling into a new ward. Tell us a little about your journey, and we may feature it, with your permission, on the site. We can publish stories using only your first name or anonymously if you prefer.

Suggest a correction

Official rules change, and we want every page to be accurate. If you notice a fee, requirement or process that has changed, send us the page address, what needs updating and, if possible, a link to the official source. We check every report and update pages as quickly as we can.

Your privacy

When you contact us, we use your name, email address and message only to reply to you. We do not sell your details or add you to mailing lists without your permission. Read our privacy policy for full details on how we handle your information.
